Student Organization Activities

SNU Student Council

The SNU Student Council carries out student organization activities with enrolled undergraduate students as members. The Student Council actively contributes to social development, strengthening of solidarity between the students, and realizing the value of higher education. Elections for the Student Council president and vice president are in principle held in November. When the Student Council elections do not take place, the College Student Union president and the Student Club Association president composes a committee to fill the role of the Student Council president. Student Clubs/Societies

Seoul National University hosts a wide range of student clubs and societies. Active groups span various fields, including music bands, choirs, orchestras, dance, fine arts, photography, student newspapers, traditional Korean music, travel clubs, and the SNU International Students Association (SISA). In addition, SNU offers a diverse range of sports clubs, including fencing, golf, basketball, rugby, scuba diving, snowboarding, skiing, equestrian sports, baseball, yachting, judo, kendo, soccer, taekwondo, and tennis. These sports clubs are managed and supported by the SNU Center for Athletic Promotion.

SNU International Students Association (SISA)

Established in March 2007, SISA is the official student council representing international students at SNU, dedicated to supporting their academic journey and smooth transition to life in Korea. Operating under the auspices of the Office of Global Affairs (OGA) since the 2019 academic year, SISA carries out a wide array of activities designed to foster community exchange and student integration.

SISA organizes diverse programs to connect students and enhance campus life, including Orientation/Welcoming Parties, Sports Day, Language Exchange Programs, International Food Festivals, Midterm/Final Exam Student Support Events, Year-End Parties, and Networking Events with international alumni.

Additionally, SISA shares vital announcements and daily living information through its official social media channels and KakaoTalk open chat rooms.

OGA Supporters

OGA Supporters is a student-led organization affiliated with the SNU Office of Global Affairs (OGA), operating to assist all international members on campus—including students, faculty, and researchers—with their transition to university life and to improve their accessibility to information.

Through the OGA’s official social media channels, YouTube channel, and the regular newsletter for international members (SNU FIT), OGA Supporters create and promote a variety of digital content such as card news, Instagram Reels, videos, and articles. This content covers essential administrative and daily living guides, academic and research support, Korean life and culture, as well as core OGA programs and events. Through these initiatives, they provide crucial information to the international community while widely promoting the main programs of the OGA and SNU’s global activities both on and off campus.

Furthermore, they facilitate smooth communication between the international community and the OGA by running offline programs—such as regular on-campus counseling sessions and hands-on, accompanied guidance for daily life—and covering major events hosted by the OGA or other international campus groups.

International Student Organization (ISO)

ISO represents students from different nations and cultural backgrounds. Its aim is to integrate international students with each other, with Korean students, and with the University Community, as well as to assist international students in their smooth transition into Korean culture.

SNU Buddy

SNU Buddy is a volunteer group that helps foreign exchange students adjust to life in Korea and make friends. SNU Buddy focuses on finding ways to build bonds between SNU students and international students by ‘Buddy Matching’. The Buddy Matching program is hugely popular with both international and Korean students and has received strong positive feedback from students who participated in the program. The Buddy Matching program is the backbone of the SNU Buddy program.

SNU Buddy organizes social gathering events all year round, such as International Opening Party (IOP) where you can meet SNU Buddy members, Office Pub, and Membership Training (MT). These activities extend to outdoors sports events, such as SNU Buddy Olympics, rafting, hiking and trekking.
